Why Grounding is a Game Changer for our Wellbeing?

Feeling anxious, stressed, agitated, exhausted… after a few hours spent indoors – being it in an office on the computer, airplane, public transport …? Did you ever realized that you actually may need to get grounded?

What is grounding?

Grounding is defined as “a process that helps your physical body to connect to life sustaining earth energies.”When you feel grounded that is the opposite of being jittery, anxious and stressed out. Grounding therefore is an important aspect of wellbeing. It is an effective way to help you combat stress and widespread EMFs. What’s more, it helps you sleep much better and overall equilibrium in daily life. When you imagine someone as “being grounded,” it means they are steadfast, centered and balanced. When you are grounded you are not “up in the air”. You are strong and focused regardless of the chaos around you. How many times did you go bare feet this week?

Is it just an ancient thing?

The term being grounded is not just a metaphor. It’s a physical fact. Before civilization, homo sapiens actually lived on the ground. They walked, slept and sat. All took place on the Earth itself with nothing in between.  No artificial building materials, no furniture, no shoes. In other words, we were connected to the soil beneath our bare feet. Can you actually imagine living for a day totally grounded?

“Only recently scientific experts in geophysics, biophysics, electrical engineering, electrophysiology and medicine explored the connection between grounding and health. The research noted that the Earth’s electrical energy maintains the order of our own bodily frequencies. We all live and function electrically on an electrical planet. Each of us are a collection of dynamic electrical circuits in which trillions of cells constantly transmit and receive energy. This then programmes biochemical reactions. Your heart, brain, nervous system, muscles and immune system are prime examples of electrical subsystems operating within your bioelectrical body. The fact is, all of your movements, behaviours and actions are energized by electricity.”1  Exciting stuff, isn’t it?

Did you know you are disconnected?

Most people are totally unaware of their bioelectrical nature or the energetic connection between their bodies and the earth’s surface. Many of us don’t even realize that we’re disconnected from Mother Nature. Our feet and the rest of our bodies rarely touch real ground. We keep insulated with layers of clothing, rubber soles, mattresses, and any assortment of chairs and accessories. Science tells us that the Earth’s electrons contain a natural, negative charge. Maintaining contact with the ground allows our bodies to naturally receive and become charged with these electrons. When we are “grounded,” we absorb these beneficial electrons that “reduce electrical imbalances in the body.”3 Since our bodies are composed of mostly water and minerals—just like the Earth—we are mutually electrically conductive.
